Spent half of its current military/war (90.7 billion usd) budget on Marussia's F1 team? Instead of killing people, they kill lap records! Granted, the current F1 budget for a top-tier team is about 316 million usd, but Marussia needs billions to play catch-up with all the other cars in the field! Thus, Russia will become the corrupt cheating bastard who could win F1...and force the United States to fund their own F1 program to combat the Russians!
It's a win for everyone!
Russia spends more money on racing than war/killing people.
F1 gets a new top-tier team with all the drama Hollywood could ever script.
US finally gets a proper F1 team to take the World Championship, and spends less money on broken, faulty next-gen fighter jets and whatnot.

Russia will only do that if Marussia can race for pinks. And by pinks I mean that if Marussia wins the Hungarian Grand Prix, the next race at the Hungaroring will be the Russian Grand Prix West.

To be fair, Marussia has made Massive strides this year. Jules' 9th in monaco wasn't a fluke, it was a long time coming.

You could make the same argument for just about any country using its money to feed its people.

I know, but I figured Russia would actually fund a F1 program before food banks for starving people in and out of its borders.

You would think that anything that would get Putin more positive face time would be a slam dunk for them. Hugo Chavez thinks it's a good idea.

At least Marussia's improved since 2010, unlike Caterham.

What if Murica spent half of it's $756 billion military budget and actually got an F1 team?

That's sorta sad/cool that Marussia, once the absolute bottom-feeder and backmaker of F1, is no longer the worst team running. Sad that there are other teams now worse off than Marussia was, and cool that Marussia has started to become somewhat competitive.

Marussia has/had a technical partnership with McLaren, that helped them a bunch. Not sure if they still have this partnership or not but I've been happy to see them grow from that team barely out qualifying HRT in 2011 to being close to Q2 at times and running close to points at times. These 2 points this year is going to help them immensely.
